In 2003, Škoda Transportation presented the Škoda 05T (or Škoda Vektorra , from Velkokapacitní tramvaj , in German a tram with a large capacity). This model is a five-unit, six-axle low-floor articulated wagon and is based on the Škoda 03T .

A prototype was built in the Škoda plant in Plzeň and was extensively tested with the road number 112 on the Plzeň tram network . Even if many components are the same as in the predecessor 03T, there are some innovations. While the bow, stern and low-floor sections were already in place, the middle section had to be redesigned. The electrical equipment, which is located on the roof like the 03T, comes from Škoda itself this time and no longer from ELIN EBG Traction . With a length of 31.93 m, it is also the longest tram built in the Czech Republic .

In 2004 the car was also put into passenger service for the first time on a trial basis, and in 2005 it was approved, but was kept parked for a long time and was not in use as planned. Due to the high axle load, the wear on both the vehicle and the rails was high, which was another reason for the infrequent use.

The railcar was not taken over by the city transport company, but remained in the possession of Škoda. In March 2009 the vehicle was removed from the Pilsen tram network and brought to the Škoda plant.

06T for Cagliari

In spring 2004, the Sardinian city of Cagliari ordered six bidirectional vehicles (with an option to seven more) for around 13.1 million euros for their new type 06T light rail , and another three vehicles were redeemed from the option in 2007.

These vehicles are based on the 05T, but there are significant differences. Type 06T vehicles are bi-directional, air-conditioned and have chassis with the atypical track width of 950 mm, but can also be equipped with meter- gauge chassis without any problems . The middle section has been redesigned and can now be reached without a step, and the floor height of the end sections has also been reduced from 780 mm to 620 mm. The vehicles are also equipped with surveillance cameras.

In mid-December 2005, the first car with the road number 9111 was delivered to Dopravní podnik hlavního města Praha (Prague City Transport Company ). The last of the total of 60 cars, 9170, came to Prague in March 2010. The 15T "ForCity" was ordered from Škoda Transportation as a successor .
