The Bohemian Forest Subprovince ( Czech Šumavska subprovincie ) is a subdivision of the geomorphological division of the Czech Republic . The area lies in the west of the Czech Republic and borders on Bavaria . The unit is one of the six sub-provinces of the Bohemian Massif ( Česká vysočina ), which in turn is part of the Hercynian system .
