Żabiny (German Seeben ) is a village in the powiat Działdowski in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship . It is in the immediate vicinity of the village of Rybno (German: Ribben) , to whose rural community it belongs.

history

Seeben became famous for the Tannenberg Battle , during which General Hermann von François received the order on August 26, 1914 to proceed to Usdau . But he only managed to take the heights of Seeben. Allegedly the artillery should not have arrived yet. Usdau ( Polish: Uzdowo ) could only be taken on the following day . This delay, whether consciously or unconsciously, was critical to the outcome of the battle.
