(10044) Squyres is an asteroid of the main belt , which from the September 15, 1985 American US astronomers Carolyn and Eugene Shoemaker at Palomar Observatory ( IAU code 675) in California was discovered.
The asteroid was named on September 21, 2002 after Steve Squyres (* 1957), the American professor of astronomy at Cornell University who is engaged in planetary research, especially the large solid in the solar system , and who is Mars' principal investigator Exploration Rover Mission is acting.
