(1005) Arago is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 5. September 1923 by the Russian astronomer Sergei Ivanovich Beliavsky at the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory in simeiz was discovered.
The asteroid was named after the French physicist and astronomer François Arago .
