(1020) Arcadia is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on March 7, 1924 by the German astronomer Karl Wilhelm Reinmuth in Heidelberg .
The name of the asteroid is derived from the mythological place (and today's province) Arcadia in Greece .
The orbit has a semi-major axis of 2.7910 astronomical units and an orbital eccentricity of 0.0396. Thus it moves at a distance of 2.6804 ( perihelion ) to 2.9016 ( aphelion ) astronomical units in 4.663 a around the sun . The orbit is 4.05 ° inclined to the ecliptic .
