(10387) BepiColombo is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 18 October 1996 by the Italian astronomer Piero Sicoli and Francesco Manca at the Osservatorio Astronomico Sormano ( IAU code 587) in Sormano was discovered.
The asteroid was named after the Italian engineer and mathematician Giuseppe "Bepi" Colombo (1920–1984), who performed particularly well in calculating the trajectories for the Mariner 10 and Giotto missions.
