(11756) Gene Parker is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 24 September 1960 by the Dutch astronomer Cornelis Johannes van Houten , Ingrid van Houten-Groeneveld and Tom Gehrels at Palomar Observatory ( IAU code 675) in California was discovered.
The asteroid was named on March 6, 2004 after the American astrophysicist Eugene N. Parker (* 1927), who conducted research at the University of Chicago and who coined the term solar wind in 1959 .
