(123) Brunhild is an asteroid of the main asteroid belt discovered on July 31, 1872 by Christian Heinrich Friedrich Peters .

The heavenly body was named after Brunhild , a powerful queen from the Nibelungenlied and the Edda .

Brunhild moves between 2.4 ( perihelion ) astronomical units and 3.0 astronomical units ( aphelion ) around the sun in 4.425 years . The orbit is inclined 6.4 ° to the ecliptic , the orbital eccentricity is 0.12.
