(1424) Sundmania is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered in Turku on January 9, 1937 by the Finnish astronomer Yrjö Väisälä .
The asteroid was named after the Finnish mathematician and then director of the Helsingfors Observatory Karl Sundman .
