(1625) The NORC is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 1 September 1953 by Belgian astronomers Sylvain Arend in Uccle was discovered.
The name of the asteroid is derived from Naval Ordnance Research Calculator (NORC), a first generation vacuum tube computer developed by IBM for the US Navy .
