(1651) Behrens is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on April 23, 1936 by the French astronomer Marguerite Laugier in Nice .
The name of the asteroid was chosen in memory of Johann Gerhard Behrens at the suggestion of O. Kippes , who was involved in reviewing this discovery . Behrens was a pastor in Detern who was known for calculating the orbits of comets and asteroids.
