(19136) Strassmann is an asteroid of the main belt , which was discovered on January 10, 1989 by the German astronomer Freimut Börngen at the Thuringian State Observatory Tautenburg ( IAU code 033) in the Tautenburg Forest in Thuringia .

The asteroid was on March 9, 2001, after the German chemist Fritz Strassmann named (1902-1980), who jointly on 17 December 1938 in Berlin with Lise Meitner and Otto Hahn , the nuclear fission discovered.
