(198) Ampella is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 13 June 1879 by the French astronomer Alphonse Louis Nicolas Borrelly was discovered.
The asteroid was named after the satyr Ampelos , who, according to Greek legend, was a good friend of Dionysus .
Ampella is of the S-type and has a relatively high geometric albedo of 0.25.
