(2006) Polonskaya is an asteroid of the main belt , which was discovered on September 22, 1973 by the Russian astronomer Nikolai Stepanowitsch Tschernych at the Crimean Observatory in Nautschnyj ( IAU code 095).

The asteroid was named after the Soviet astronomer Elena Ivanovna Kazimirtschak-Polonskaya (1902-1992), who studied the influence of large planets on the orbits of short-period comets .

In November 2005, due to disturbances in the light curve, the assumption was made at the Ondřejov observatory that (2006) Polonskaya had a moon with a diameter of approx. 3 km. This assumption has not yet been confirmed.
