(22469) Poloniny is an asteroid located in the main belt , which was discovered on February 2, 1997 by the Slovak astronomers Leonard Kornoš and Peter Kolény at the observatory in Modra ( IAU code 118).

The asteroid was named on December 10, 2011 after the Slovak Poloniny National Park in the Bukovské vrchy Mountains in eastern Slovakia , some of which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2007 . On December 3, 2010, on the occasion of the International Year of Biodiversity, the national park was also declared a Dark-Sky Park .
