(2259) Sofievka ( 1971 OG ; 1929 JM ; 1936 KJ ; 1956 AF ; 1970 CJ ; 1972 YC ; 1972 YN 1 ; 1975 WE 1 ) is an asteroid of the main inner belt that was discovered on July 19, 1971 by the Russian astronomer Bella Burnaschewa was discovered at the Crimean Observatory in Nautschnyj ( IAU code 095).
designation
(2259) Sofievka was named after Sofijiwka Park , a dendrological park in Uman in Cherkassy Oblast in what was then the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic . The park is a monument to the landscaping and architecture of the 18th and 19th centuries.
