(2527) Gregory is an asteroid of the main belt , which on September 3, 1981 by the American US astronomer Norman G. Thomas at the Anderson Mesa Station of the Lowell Observatory ( observatory code 688) in Coconino County was discovered.

The asteroid was named after the Scottish mathematician and astronomer James Gregory (1638–1675), who in 1670 developed the Gregory telescope named after him , which was widely used until around 1800.
