(2568) Maksutov is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on April 13, 1980 by the Czech astronomer Zdeňka Vávrová at the Kleť observatory ( observatory code 046) near the town of Český Krumlov in southern Bohemia .
The asteroid was named in 1983 after the Russian optician Dmitri Dmitrijewitsch Maksutow (1896–1964), who invented the Maksutov telescope named after him and from 1930 organized the Laboratory for Astronomical Optics.
