(26757) Bastei is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on May 20, 2001 at the Drebach observatory ( IAU code 113) in the Erzgebirge district in Saxony .
The asteroid was named on July 24, 2002 after the Bastei rock , a rock formation in Saxon Switzerland on the right bank of the Elbe , which is one of the most visited tourist attractions in the region.
