(2678) Aavasaksa is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 24 February 1938 by the Finnish astronomer Yrjö Väisälä at Turku was discovered.

The name of the asteroid is reminiscent of the Finnish mountain Aavasaksa , one of the points that Maupertuis used to determine the longitude of a longitude.
