(28078) Mauricehilleman is an asteroid of the inner main belt that was discovered on August 26, 1998 as part of the OCA-DLR Asteroid Survey (ODAS), a project of the OCA (Observatoire de la Côte d'Azur) and the DLR ( German Center for Air - and space travel ), was discovered at the 90 cm Schmidt telescope of the French Observatoire de Calern ( IAU code 910). The asteroid had already been sighted at the Crimean Observatory in Nautschnyj : on October 25, 1982 under the provisional designation 1982 UB 11 and on November 9, 1982 (1982 VQ 8 ).
(28078) Mauricehilleman was named on June 2, 2015 after the American physician , microbiologist and vaccine expert Maurice R. Hilleman (1919-2005), who is known for the development of several important vaccines .
