(29361) Botticelli is an asteroid of the main belt discovered on February 9, 1996 by the Italian astronomer Vincenzo Silvano Casulli at the Osservatorio Colleverde di Guidonia ( IAU code 596) in the municipality of Guidonia Montecelio in the province of Rome .

The asteroid was named after the Italian painter of the Italian Early Renaissance Sandro Botticelli (1445–1510), who created several wall paintings in the Sistine Chapel in 1481 and around 1498 made a total of 94 pen drawings for the Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri .
