(3039) Yangel is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on September 26, 1978 by the Ukrainian-Russian astronomer Lyudmyla Vasylivna Shuravlowa at the Crimean Observatory in Nautschnyj ( IAU code 095).

The asteroid was named after the Soviet aerospace engineer Michail Kusmitsch Jangel (1911–1971), who was awarded the Lenin Prize in 1960 for his achievements in the field of launchers .
