(30836) Schnittke is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on January 15, 1991 by the German astronomer Freimut Börngen at the Thuringian state observatory in Tautenburg ( IAU code 033) in Thuringia .

The asteroid was named after the Russian-German composer and pianist Alfred Schnittke (1934–1998), who completed his musical training at the Moscow Conservatory and developed a polystylistic way of composing.
