(3566) Levitan is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on December 24, 1979 by the Ukrainian - Soviet astronomer Lyudmyla Shuravlowa at the branch of the Crimean Observatory ( IAU code 095) in Nautschnyj .

The asteroid was named after the Russian landscape painter Isaak Ilyich Lewitan (1860-1900), who was a member of the Peredwischniki and is considered one of the most important Russian painters of realism .
