(43955) Fixlmüller is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on February 6, 1997 by the Austrian amateur astronomers Erich Meyer and Erwin Obermair at the Davidschlag observatory ( IAU code 540) in Kirchschlag near Linz in Upper Austria .

The asteroid was named on January 25, 2005 after the Austrian Benedictine priest and astronomer Placidus Fixlmillner (1721–1791), who was director of the Kremsmünster observatory belonging to the Kremsmünster Monastery from 1762 to 1791 and who, as a composer and music teacher, developed a musical notation that was easy to understand even for laypeople which, however, did not prevail.
