(4429) Chinmoy is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on September 12, 1978 by the Russian astronomer Nikolai Stepanowitsch Tschernych at the Crimean Observatory in Nautschnyj ( IAU code 095).

The asteroid belongs to the Nysa group, a group of asteroids named after (44) Nysa (also called the Hertha family, after (135) Hertha ).

(4429) Chinmoy was named after the Bengali writer , poet and philosopher Sri Chinmoy (1931-2007).
