(4588) Wislicenus is an asteroid of the main belt , which was discovered on March 13, 1931 by the German astronomer Max Wolf in Heidelberg .
The asteroid was named after the German astronomer Walter Wislicenus on November 26, 2004 at a suggestion by Lutz D. Schmadel .
