(47494) Gerhardangl is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on January 4, 2000 by the Swiss amateur astronomer Stefano Sposetti at the Osservatorio Astronomico di Gnosca ( IAU code 143) in Gnosca in the canton of Ticino .

On April 9, 2009, the asteroid was named after Gerhard Dangl (* 1959), an Austrian amateur astronomer, at the suggestion of the discoverer . Dangl lives in the Lower Austrian Waldviertel and mainly deals with occultations of the moon and asteroids.
