(4844) Matsuyama is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 23 January 1991 by the Japanese astronomer Seiji Ueda and Hiroshi Kaneda at the Observatory of Kushiro ( IAU code was discovered 399).
It was named in honor of the Japanese amateur astronomer Masanori Matsuyama .
