(5155) Denisyuk is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on April 18, 1972 by the Soviet astronomer Tamara Mikhailovna Smirnova at the Crimean Observatory in Nautschnyj ( IAU code 095).
The asteroid belongs to the Hygiea family, a rather older group of asteroids, as is believed, the largest member of which is the asteroid (10) Hygiea .
(5155) Denisyuk was named on October 5, 1998 after the Russian physicist Yuri Nikolajewitsch Denisjuk (1927-2006), who became known for his contributions to holography .
