(6051) Anaximenes is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 30 January 1992 by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the La Silla Observatory ( IAU code 809) of the European Southern Observatory in Chile was discovered.
It was named in honor of Anaximenes of Miletus (approx. 585 BC - approx. 525 BC), a natural philosopher and astronomer of ancient Greece, who was counted among the pre-Socratics .
