(6846) Kansazan is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 22 October 1976 by the Japanese astronomer Hiroki Kosai and Kiichiro Furukawa at the Kiso Observatory ( IAU code 381) in Kiso at Mount Ontake was discovered.
The asteroid belongs to the Nysa group, a group of asteroids named after (44) Nysa (also called the Hertha family, after (135) Hertha ).
The celestial body was named on February 2, 1999 after the Kanshi poet and Confucian scholar Kan Chazan (1748-1827).
