(7734) Kaltenegger (provisional name: 1979 MZ6) is an asteroid of the main belt . It was discovered by Eleanor Francis Helin and Scolding John Bus at the Siding Spring Observatory near Coonabarabran , Australia on June 25, 1979.

The asteroid is named after the Austrian astronomer and astrophysicist Lisa Kaltenegger , who discovered and researched exoplanets at Cornell University and previously at the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy (MPIA) in Heidelberg and at the Harvard Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in Boston and super-earths busy.
