(9638) Fuchs is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 10 August 1994 by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the La Silla Observatory ( IAU code 809) of the European Southern Observatory in Chile was discovered.
The asteroid was named on November 10, 1998 after the German doctor and botanist Leonhart Fuchs (1501–1566), who became famous for his herbal books , the first of which was published in 1542.
