1, 2, 3, 4… is the sixth studio album by the German singer, producer and composer Stephan Remmler , which was released in 2006. Remmler's eldest son Cecil Remmler was co-producer . The album is conceived as a "collaboration album"; H. almost all of the songs on the album were edited by other artists, including Deichkind , Seeed , Thomas D or 2raumwohnung .

Musical description

While Remmler's previous albums, which were released in the late 1980s and 1990s, were more likely to be assigned to rock music or hits, 1, 2, 3, 4 ... is more electronic and minimal. This applies to the titles produced jointly by Remmler and his son Cecil. On the other hand, the revisions by the collaborators are multifaceted: Handsome Hank presents Let's Come To Elvis in country style, while the revision of Ich muss ins Krankenhaus by Café Drechsler can be assigned to jazz .

In terms of text, the new compositions primarily deal with the topic of aging. For example, Remmler describes a lack of perseverance during sexual intercourse in Die Luft ist out or describes the coffin in Mach because of the fear of being buried alive.

Emergence

Stephan Remmler produced the entire album together with his eldest son Cecil Remmler , who was 17 years old at the time. It was recorded in Remmler's property on the Canary island of Lanzarote . Cecil Remmler mainly produced the beats for 1, 2, 3, 4… . Work on the album had already been completed when the idea arose to have the songs revised by other artists. A list of ideal candidates was drawn up. The only refusal was given by Judith Holofernes , who was supposed to sing along in the song Women are evil .

reception

Michael Schuh from the music portal laut.de positively highlights Remmler's voice and praises Remmler's ability to write “sharp-edged lines”. He describes the collaboration with the collaborators as "nice gestures". Schuh attests to individual songs that they wear out quickly ( women are bad ) or sound cheap ( bird of the night ).

In the German album charts, the album was placed at number 60. Neither of the two singles released from the album was able to make it into the charts.

Track list

The album was released in a standard and an extended version. The Extended Version contains the titles of the Standard Edition on CD1, additional songs on CD2 and a DVD on which all the collaborators report on their collaboration with Stephan Remmler. The DVD also includes interviews with Stephan Remmler and a series of music videos for the songs on the album.
