The 2001/02 season was the ninth regular staging of the first division , the second Slovak ice hockey division . Champion was the HK VTJ Spišská Nová Ves , who qualified for the extraliga relegation , in which he prevailed against the MHC Nitra .

mode

In the main round, each of the eleven teams played a total of 40 games. The first place after the main round qualified for the extraliga relegation. Each team received two points for a win and one point for a draw. No points were awarded for a defeat after normal time.
