1000 km race from Palanga
The Palanga 1000 km race is a long distance race on an unspecified temporary street circuit near the city of Palanga in Lithuania.
The event
The race was first held in 2000 with only local participants. Due to the rather unusual structure of the street course and because refueling is carried out at a public gas station, the race quickly achieved international fame and attracted international racing teams. It is an individual event and not part of a championship.
The race takes place on a cordoned-off part of the intersection of the A13 and A11 highways . The entrances and exits of the trunk roads are part of the racetrack; Two mobile chicanes are placed on the lanes. Refueling takes place at a petrol station on the A13 highway; the pit lane is only used for repairs and tire changes.
Vehicles admitted to the race are classic touring cars and Gran Turismo vehicles. The vehicles are divided into different groups according to the degree of their modification or according to their fuel.
