The association 100 Beste Plakate eV is an interest group for design, graphics , design and the graphic arts in Germany, Austria and Switzerland . The association was founded with the aim of promoting and rewarding the poster medium with the highest design standards and increasing it in public awareness.

history

The 100 Best Posters Association emerged from the Best Posters of the Year competition, which was launched in 1966. In 2001 the newly founded association took over the organization and realignment of the competition. In the spirit of the European idea, the competition was expanded to include German-language posters and thus artists from Austria and Switzerland were also integrated.

Cooperating professional associations of the association are: DesignAustria, the Alliance Graphique Internationale , the International Council of Graphic Design Associations , the BDG Professional Association of German Communication Designers and the AGD . The founding members included Klaus Staeck , Helmut Brade and Volker Pfüller .

competition

The association organizes an annual competition in the DACH network . Poster designers, artists, students and printers are invited to submit the best works of the past year. There is also the possibility for clients of posters to nominate them. An annually changing jury of designers selects the 100 best from the submitted posters, which are then awarded and exhibited.

The book 100 Best Posters appears annually for the competition .

Exhibitions

The award-winning posters will be presented to the public in Berlin ( Kulturforum am Potsdamer Platz ), Essen, Nuremberg, Lucerne, Zurich and Vienna MAK (Austrian Museum for Applied Art / Contemporary Art) as well as at other changing locations through exhibitions lasting several weeks. The posters are included in the collections of the German Poster Museum (Folkwang Museum) Essen and the MAK.
