  • The 13th Supreme People's Assembly of North Korea was formed after the 2014 general election . It is the Supreme People's Assembly in the 13th legislative period and thus formally the highest power in the state. It has 687 members.

    Parliamentary sessions

    Sessions of the Supreme People's Assembly take place in the Mansudae Congress Hall. With a few exceptions, Parliament meets once a year. It is internationally regarded as an undemocratic pseudo parliament without its own creative power.

    First session

    The constituent session of the newly elected parliament took place on April 9, 2014. Choe Thae-bok was re-elected as chairman of the Supreme People's Assembly. An Tong-chun and Ri Hye-jong were elected vice-chairs . Kim Phyong-hae was elected chairman of the Party Control Commission; Pak Yong-sik , Kang Phil-hun , Ri Man-gon , Cha Yong-myong , Kim Yong-ho and Kim Hyong-nam as their members. According to the agenda, Kim Jong-un was re-elected as chairman of the National Defense Commission . It was also Kim Yong-nam confirmed as parliamentary speaker again.     Pak Pong-ju was confirmed as head of government. Likewise were other government members voted. Jang Pyong-gyu was re-elected as the Attorney General . Pak Myong-chol became chairman of the Supreme Court .

    Second session

    The second meeting took place on September 25, 2014 in the absence of Kim Jong-un, which sparked international speculation about his health. Choe Ryong-hae was dismissed as deputy to Kim Jong-uns and Hwang Pyong-so was appointed as his new deputy to the National Defense Commission.
