2-methoxypropene is a chemical compound from the group of ethers .

Extraction and presentation

2-Methoxypropene can be produced by pyrolysis of 2,2-dimethoxypropane , whereby a crude mixture of 2-methoxypropene, methanol and acetone as well as a number of other impurities is formed. Other synthesis processes starting from propyne or propene with addition of methanol are also known.

properties

2-methoxypropene is a colorless and odorless liquid that is practically insoluble in water. The technical product contains potassium carbonate as a stabilizer.

use

2-Methoxypropene is used for the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds and as an important intermediate for drugs.
