2-Phenylhexane is a hydrocarbon from the group of the alkylbenzenes . Usually it is a 1: 1 mixture of two chemical compounds :
- ( R ) -2-phenylhexane and
- ( S ) -2-phenylhexane.
Extraction and presentation
2-Phenylhexane can be obtained by Friedel-Crafts alkylation of 1-chlorohexane with benzene and aluminum trichloride . The compound can also be prepared by reacting benzene with n -hexane .
