2012 KT 42 is a near-Earth asteroid from the Apollo-type . It was discovered on May 28, 2012 by Alex R. Gibbs at the Mount Lemmon Observatory ( observatory code G96) of the Catalina Sky Survey . 2012 KT 42 passed Earth on May 29, 2012 at a distance of approximately 14,400 km. This brought it closer to the earth than the orbit of the geostationary satellites . It has an estimated diameter of 4 to 10 meters.

There was no danger of collision with the Earth and the asteroid was therefore from the watch list (30 May 2012 Sentry Risk Table ) of the NASA removed.
