2014 FE 72 is a Trans-Neptunian object with a strongly eccentric orbit; its perihelion is still outside the orbit of Neptune. In aphelion it is considered the most distant known object in the solar system . In this orbit it can be assumed that disturbances caused by forces acting from outside the solar system, such as galactic tides and interstellar approaches , will influence the orbit in the long term. His discovery was made by Scott Sheppard and Chad Trujillo on March 26, 2014. The discovery was announced on August 29, 2016.

Most of the object's orbit parameters can only be partially determined. Little is known about its physical properties.
