22P / Kopff is a short-period comet that was discovered by August Kopff in Heidelberg on August 23, 1906 . With a period of only 6 years, it is one of the tail stars with the shortest orbital period. The comet was not observed the next time it approached Earth in 1912/1913, but has been observed every time it passed through the perihelion since 1919. An approach to Jupiter in 1954 changed the flight path and shortened the orbital time around the sun.
