48forward is an annual innovation and future festival in Munich with numerous other conference formats that take place during the year. In terms of content, it deals with trends and visions in different areas of life and business and is geared towards the international market. Speakers from all over the world will be on stage. Previous speakers on stage included, for example, important representatives from companies such as Microsoft , SAP , Deutsche Bundesbank , Adobe , EyeEm , BMW , FlixBus and the Süddeutsche Zeitung .

The first edition of 48forward took place on November 26th, 2015 in the Eisbach Studios in Munich. Around 300 people and 30 speakers, some of whom came from all over Europe, took part in the all-day event initiated by Daniel Fürg under the patronage of Josef Schmid , the second mayor of the state capital Munich . Among the speakers were Matteo Achilli, founder of the Italian startup Egomnia, and Gen Sadakane, co-founder and creative director of the Berlin company EyeEm.
The topics of the twelve-hour program ranged from the future of mobility and trends in journalism to visions about tomorrow's work and the challenges posed by politics in terms of digitization.
After the event, Talk.48fwrd was a monthly series of events at changing venues. The evening events each select a topic and discuss this in the context of a panel or a keynote speech. The speakers in this series have so far included FDP politician Jimmy Schulz , journalist and presenter Richard Gutjahr , Instagram star Pamela Reif and Michael O. Schmutzer, founder of the Design Offices .
The second edition of the main conference took place on November 24, 2016 in the Freiheizhalle in Munich. Over 300 participants and 40 speakers attended the event. The speakers included Francesco Marconi, Strategy Manager at The Associated Press in New York, and Jeremy Tai Abbett, Creative Evangelist at Google .
With the third edition of the main event on February 22, 2018, 500 participants from all over Europe came to Munich to see more than 50 speakers from ten different countries on stage. These include Martin Wezowski from SAP , Kaspar Korjus, who is responsible for the e-residency program in Estonia , and Louise Troen, who is responsible for brand development and marketing for the dating app Bumble.
The 48forward Festival took place in Munich on February 7th and 8th, 2019. The previously one-day conference was transformed into a two-day festival with 600 participants for the first time. A total of 100 speakers from 15 different countries appeared on the stage and in various master classes to discuss technological and social trends and their influence on various areas of life and business. The speakers included Matthew Timms from E.ON , Hanna Hennig from OSRAM , Adam Somlai-Fischer from Prezi and Prof. Dr. Newton Howard from Oxford University .
For 2019, the organizers announced various themed conferences, including all about the future of mobility, innovations in the real estate market, new technologies in medicine and retail. The next main event is planned as a three-day festival from April 28 to 30, 2019 in Munich.
