action
The US Air Force enables selected journalists to tour the legendary Area 51 base . The US government is pursuing the goal of putting an end to the decades-long myth about aliens and to clearly prove that not a single alien has ever landed on earth. Colonel Martin instructs his soldiers not to allow any access to the lower levels of the base prior to the arrival of newscaster Sam Whitaker and the ruthless journalist Claire Felon. The entire campaign is a sham, because deep down in the earth, aliens are being held.
Meanwhile, Dr. Keane feeds an alien named Patient Zero under the protection of two soldiers. This has been recorded and studied for 25 years. Particularly dangerous is its ability to be able to assume exactly what someone looks like when touched. The media representatives are getting annoyed, as they only get to see insignificant things, and are starting to doubt this media campaign. Patient Zero plays dead in the meantime, so that Dr. Keane rushes to help. The alien touches him and takes his form. The two soldiers accidentally shoot the real Dr. Keane. After patient Zero has also killed the two soldiers, he breaks out. Another alien, called Death Lady, escapes from the cell and begins to murder.
Due to the dissatisfaction with the media, Colonel Martin improvised and also released the second level for viewing. However, all scientists are instructed to play something. Suddenly the alarm goes off and chaos breaks out. Colonel Martin and his guests try to escape the aliens. Other special forces, one under the command of the female sergeant Hannah, set about tracking down and killing the aliens. They are supported by the good-natured alien J-Rod, who generally works at the base. After Patient Zero infiltrated Colonel Martin's group unnoticed, the situation comes to a head. Many people have to give up their lives. Sergeant Hannah can kill the alien Lady Death and rushes to the aid of the journalist group. Colonel Martin has since given permission to report because he is tired of the dangerous secrets. A little later he is shot by Sam Whitaker, who has meanwhile been assimilated by Patient Zero. But Sergeant Hannah can kill this alien too.
Since the self-destruction of the system was activated by the aliens, they all flee from Area 51. The path leads directly to the television studio, where journalist Claire Felon appears accompanied by J-Rod.
criticism
"Laughing horror film with science fiction elements that does not seek a cinematic narrative or an intrinsic logic."
“As is so often the case when the production company performs After Dark for the Syfy Channel, the result is not to be despised. Deserved genre and TV veterans such as Jason London, Bruce Boxleitner ("Tron") and Rachel Miner ("Springfield Story") happily vary tried-and-tested character clichés and collide in a bright, colorful staging with handmade effects and costumes that achieve far more impact and can be admired longer than the cheap CGI morphs that are usual in this league. Good thing for fans of the trade. "
