Sungai Langat is a river in Malaysia , in the state of Selangor south of Kuala Lumpur .

geography

It has a length of about 78 km and a catchment area of ​​about 2350 km². Its sources lie on the border with Pahang and Negeri Sembilan at the foot of the Titiwangsa Mountains on Gunung Nuang, not far from the Genting Highlands . It flows into the Strait of Malacca at Port Klang and forks into a southern and a western arm shortly before the confluence. A branch of the river forms an estuary delta together with the sound . In its catchment area there are several reservoirs, such as the Langat Reservoir and the Semenyih Reservoir .

Hydrology

On the lower reaches of the Langat, the annual monsoons lead to floods again and again.
