7 Days Awake is a German rock band that was founded in Bielefeld in 2003 and is known for their experimental merger of indie rock , stoner rock , psychedelic rock and new alternative .

history

The originally instrumental band was founded in 2003 by the guitarist Valera Igla , the drummer Hell-G and the bassist Simon Vegaz . During the recordings for their first album Who Cares , the band Phil Kidneybone was available on the percussion. The four of them recorded their first album on their own. Together with their instrumental brother Friends of Dean Martinez , they went on tour in Germany and the Netherlands .

In 2004 the singer Mario Carlucci joined the band. Cubism , their second album, was recorded in spring 2005. Since 7 Days Awake was still unable to sign a record deal, this album was also produced in-house. The song OK Please Enter appeared on the Finest Noise sampler , and the band built a wide reputation for playing as the opening act for groups like The Dwarves , Mother Superior and WE .

In 2006 the band was able to sign a contract with the Hamburg label Abandon Records (where Black Torro would later become their colleagues) and went into the studio to record the new album Time Fluctuations . This official debut album hit stores in the summer of 2007 and brought 7 Days Awake stylistic comparisons with bands like Queens of the Stone Age , Faith No More or Pink Floyd .

They played over 40 other concerts, including appearances in Madrid, two major tours through Germany and appearances at various open air festivals such as B. at the AStA summer festival in Paderborn (the largest student festival in Germany).

In June 2009 they separated from singer Carlucci due to irreconcilable musical differences. Hell-G took over the vocals.

On September 27, 2010 the album Interference was released again under the Hamburg label Abandon Records after more than a year of studio work. A music video was also released for the single Destination Zero . The trio played other concerts, among other things as support for bands such as Amplifier and Los Natas (Argentina).

In 2011 the recordings for the album Cthulhu followed , which is supposed to represent a kind of B-side to the album Interference .
